Time Flies When You're Having Fun

I've been parked at my daughter's place for about 5 weeks now, and it hardly seems that long. We have been super busy much of the time. Their landlord is selling the house and needed the yard work (massive amount of work) completed and the house depersonalized and of course, tidy and clean so they could take photos for the listing. The yard work was staggering and we still could not finish it and needed the landlord to take on a portion of it. My daughter and her partner work full time and travel often for work so have very little free time and I felt like we spent it preparing the house for the landlord's gain. Now the yard work is minimal, and the house is mostly clean so not as much work for any upcoming open house or showings. It is just bad timing as my daughter and her partner are moving to BC to live on an island not far from where I call home in Victoria. I'm very excited. The island is Salt Spring Island, and it is just a short ferry ride from Vancouver Island. So they had to start packing two months before they were actually leaving, and decluttering of everyday things so now there are baskets and bins all over with stuff that gets collected up each time the house is to be shown. Also, her partner had surgery, so is out of commission for a bit. In any event, we may see it as intrusive and annoying but knowing they are starting a new chapter of life on Salt Spring is motivation enough as their light at the end of the city tunnel. My daughter is worried she won't have quick access to things living on a rural farm property, however I think she will settle in like many Salt Springers and make a monthly or biweekly shopping trip to Victoria and that's when you go out for dinner at a favourite restaurant, visit friends and family, and order what you can't find, online.

The majorly of discussion here has been about the upcoming move to farm life and there are many wonderful and exciting plans for the farm that will not only provide an income but be lots of fun and very interesting to experiment with. They will focus on the maple syrup production and laying hens and then develop other ideas as they are able. My daughter is finally going to get her very own horse, something she has been wanting for most of her life. They would like to get two horses to start, so they can both go riding and then add horses as they can to take others riding on interactive tours of the farm once things are up and running. They want to step away from the typical trail ride and instead, the ride takes them around the property to do chores at each stop, with some teaching as she goes about the farm, and how things are done, what they know about the animals/plants, etc.

This tree below is in their back yard - drops crap to clean up year round, but looks stunning in full bloom. The rest of the year it drops petals, seed pods, fluff, blossom stems, ornamental crab apples, leaves, bugs, worms, bird poop, and so on! Why someone would choose to plant one of these in their back yard is beyond me. These should only be in orchards of useless shit.

Saw this RV parked at a Canadian Tire parking lot. It's the shorter version of my RV. I've only ever seen one other like the one I'm parked beside. Shortly after I took this photo I bumped into the owner who was wheeling his shopping cart back to the RV. He was a pretty shady looking dude, who minimally responded to my comment about his being like mine. He had a shopping cart full of chemicals...then I bumped into his partner who also had a shopping cart of chemicals. I looked at the photos later and it seems they may have removed all the cabinets. I smell a meth lab...lol

I managed to sew up a few more quilts. I made one of purple and green with a dinosaur scenic print for my friend. I made one for my sister out of the leftovers from my nephew's quilts. I also made another one for my daughter out of her partner's dress shirts he was going to donate to charity. They were all made of nice cotton or cotton blends and cool prints. I backed it with more shirts and some purple flannel. It turned out very well and she was quite happy with it, as was her partner. This is McGee, supervising my sewing.

I'll be hitting the road a week from today, stopping to see some family and friends along the way and should be home by Monday after next. I will miss being here with my daughter and her partner, and all the animals however I take comfort in knowing that I will see them again this summer and then really anytime I want to as they will be just a short drive and 25 min ferry away. They plan to build me a little deck to park next to, which I thought was lovely of them to think of me.

Now what to do with the rest of this bright sunny day?
